The Orange County Blues continued their preseason preparation this week on their trip to Arizona with a friendly on Thursday against their first USL opponent this year, local side Arizona United SC. The teams played to a scoreless draw at Casa Grande.
Probably the highlight of the game, at least based on the available reports on it from Arizona United's Twitter feed, is that the Blues saved an AZ United penalty kick by Sam Garza in the 59th minute. Former Blues forwards Gibson Bardsley and Chris Cortez featured for United.
Beyond that, it sounded like a typically chippy game between the sides and hopefully the Blues' squad is coming together.
The next scheduled preseason game is a week from Friday, back home against another USL side, Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. The actual regular season is a little over two weeks away, so we'll have plenty of coverage of the team ahead of the opener on March 26.
