Some mixed news on Wednesday for the Orange County Blues upon the release of the USL discipline report.
On the downside, Blues midfielder Pavle Popara picked up his fifth yellow card last week against Real Monarchs and is therefore suspended for Friday's game at Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC. Popara has played in all nine league games for Orange County this season, so his absence will be felt, no doubt, but the suspension will give another player a shot to impress head coach Oliver Wyss.
But of note for Friday's game, Colorado Springs' Saeed Robinson will be suspended as well, as part of a three-game suspension leveled against him by the league for spitting in an opponent's face. Robinson, you may recall, scored the opening goal for the Switchbacks in their 3-0 win over the Blues earlier this month, so it's probably safe to say OC won't miss facing him.
In other disciplinary news, Blues midfielder Ivan Mirkovic remains on the edge of suspension, sitting on four yellow cards. USL doesn't have a "good behavior" incentive for yellow card accumulation like MLS, so his next yellow will lead to suspension, no matter when it comes.
