Orange County Blues on brink of breaking club record shutout streak

Eight more minutes.

That's all the Orange County Blues need to break the club record for consecutive minutes without allowing a goal in league play.

Currently, the Blues have three consecutive games with a clean sheet, matching a run they made early in the 2012 season. During that same 2012 run, they went a total of 299 minutes without allowing a goal, between a 2-2 draw against the Wilmington Hammerheads and a 1-0 loss to the Charleston Battery, over a total of five games.

Where do they sit at present? 292 minutes, including the time after the LA Galaxy II's goal in the 1-1 draw against OC, the last time the Blues conceded.

So if the Blues can keep Colorado Springs Switchbacks off the board on Sunday for at least the first eight minutes of the game, the club record book will be rewritten. Given how strong they've been this season on the defensive end, you wouldn't bet against them, but we'll see if they can make it happen.
