Orange County Blues midfielder Didier Crettenand had a productive week, with a total of three goals and an assist in two games during the team’s Texas road trip. As a result of his exploits, USL announced on Tuesday he had been named to the league’s Team of the Week for Week 14.
In fact, Crettenand was up for USL Player of the Week, and came in second in the vote (33 percent), to Real Monarchs goalkeeper Lalo Fernandez (47 percent). So not a bad week all around for the Swiss mid. And no Blues player has been named USL Player of the Week yet this season, but there’s always next week.
The selection is Crettenand’s third for this season, with a previous Team of the Week XI pick to go with a Team of the Week bench nod. Congrats to him on the honor.
The Blues’ next game comes Saturday against local rivals LA Galaxy II in Carson.
