With the Orange County Blues grabbing another result this past weekend, a player from the team has gotten recognition from the league once again, and little surprise, that player is midfielder Didier Crettenand. The Swiss veteran was named to USL’s Team of the Week for Week 16 following the Blues’ 3-3 draw against Sacramento Republic FC.
Crettenand scored two goals in the game, the first a penalty and the second a wicked direct free kick that was certainly the best goal in a game with a couple of candidates.
It is Crettenand’s fourth selection this season, with three calls to the Best XI of the week and one bench nod. That’s by far the most on the team. Of course, Crettenand is now the leading scorer on the team, with 7 goals to go with an assist, and if he continues in this run of form there could be several more honors coming his way during the season.
