The Orange County Blues will look to extend their winning streak by hosting Arizona United in the teams’ third meeting of the season (4 pm PT).
Both teams are on short rest following midweek games, and both are looking to get into the playoff spots as the remaining games dwindle this season. For now, the Blues are in the better position, sitting in eighth place, and hoping they can move even higher up the table with three points from this game.
The teams’ form has been pretty similar of late, and Arizona have the season series edge so far, with a 1-0-1 mark heading into this game. While OC have alternated between being supremely unlucky and just not good enough against Arizona, their recent uptick in the last two games means they should feel pretty confident heading into the game. With the recent additions to the squad appearing to make a major difference immediately, a late season surge for the Blues may be on yet again this year.
Arizona continued their recent run of picking up former Blues players this week, too, as little-used midfielder Christian Silva switched teams, signing for United earlier this week. Will he see time against his former team on Sunday? We’ll see.
Tale of the Tape:
OC Blues: 28 points (8-9-4), 8th place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: -5 (27/32); Last five matches: W-W-L-L-D
Arizona United: 24 points (6-8-6), 12th place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: -3 (25/28); Last five matches: W-L-W-L-D
