How to Watch OC Blues vs. Colorado Springs Switchbacks

This is the make or break game for the Blues’ season.

The Orange County Blues will attempt to end the season on a high note, in more ways than one, in their 2016 USL regular season finale against the visiting Colorado Springs Switchbacks on Saturday night.

The task is simple for the Blues: Win, and they still have some hope of qualifying for the USL playoffs. They currently sit in 10th place, which is two places out of the playoffs, but with a win, they can qualify if two other teams open the door for them. If San Antonio FC don’t win their game against Rio Grande Valley FC, and if Portland Timbers 2 either don’t win against Arizona United SC or if they win and the Blues’ margin of victory is at least one goal greater than T2’s, then the Blues can jump up to 8th place and get new life in the playoffs.

Needless to say, it’s an uphill climb, but all of the scenarios will be moot if the Blues don’t grab a victory (they’re a point behind SAFC at present). And that’s not necessarily in the bag, either.

The Blues have yet to pick up a win against the Switchbacks this season in two meetings. While the Blues were, ahem, given a lifeline with a 98th minute charitable PK call in a 1-1 draw in May, they were also blown away at Anteater Stadium 3-0 by Colorado Springs earlier that same month. Obviously, a lot of time has passed since the teams last played, with the Blues a fairly different side these days, but the prior results show there is an uphill climb, most likely, against the Switchbacks, who themselves are in the running to finish first in the Western Conference.

Tale of the Tape:

OC Blues: 37 points (11-14-4), 10th place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: -6 (35/41); Last five games: L-W-L-L-W

CO Springs Switchbacks: 49 points (14-8-7), 1st place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: 14 (37/23); Last five games: W-W-W-L-W

How to Watch OC Blues vs. Colorado Springs Switchbacks: The game is scheduled to kick off at 7 pm PT at Anteater Stadium in Irvine. If you can’t make the game, you can also watch it on the stream below or in USL’s matchcenter.
