Good news for the Orange County Blues following their remarkable regular season finale over the weekend, as striker Trevin Caesar has been named USL Player of the Week following his near-miraculous two-goal haul in the dying moments of the Blues’ 4-0 win over Colorado Springs Switchbacks, a result that helped catapult OC into the USL Cup playoffs.

Caesar, who garnered 62 percent of the voting panel’s vote, really did make the difference between the Blues clinching a postseason berth and not, as his goals were the last push OC needed to overcome Portland Timbers 2’s goal difference advantage and grab the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

The Trinidad & Tobago international is the Blues’ first and only USL Player of the Week for the 2016 season. Caesar is the first OC Blues player to receive Player of the Week honors since Chris Cortez took the prize in Sept. 2015.

Congratulations to Trevin, and here’s hoping the good vibes will continue in Saturday’s playoff showdown against Sacramento Republic.
