How to watch Sacramento Republic vs. Orange County Blues

A must-win game comes against a tough opponent.

The Orange County Blues’ final bye of the USL regular season is over, and it’s time to finish the season, as they head up to NorCal to take on Sacramento Republic FC at Bonney Field Saturday evening (7:30 pm PT).

The Blues have four games left in the season, and three of those four games are against teams ahead of them in the table. They are currently in eighth place in the West, the final playoff spot. This. Is. Crunch. Time.

And the challenge is steep, as they’re facing Sacramento Republic on the road. A Republic team currently sitting atop the Western Conference. They are cruising right now, and the Blues lost to them in their last match. This is not going to be easy.

Having said all that, this shouldn’t be an “all hope is lost” game for OC. They’ve beaten Sac Republic before — in fact, they beat Sacramento in Sacramento already this season. Sure, that Republic team was slumping badly at the time and don’t appear to be anymore, but the Blues know grabbing three points is not an impossible task.

Technically, is this a must-win game for the Blues? I guess not, but if it isn’t, it’s as close as you get. The Blues need points to shore up their playoff berth and time is running out on opportunities to pick up points. It’s probably safe to conclude the playoffs have essentially started for Orange County.

Tale of the Tape:

OC Blues: 34 points (10-12-4), 8th place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: -6 (32/28); Last five games: L-W-L-W-L

Sac Republic: 44 points (12-6-8), 1st place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: 11 (35/24); Last five games: D-W-W-W-D
