Fans can attend MLS, NWSL drafts in Los Angeles this week for free

Are you in Los Angeles on Thursday or Friday afternoon? Want to see a banner day in the MLS and/or the NWSL calendar? You just may be in luck!

Both of the first division pro soccer leagues in the United States are in town and holding their drafts in Los Angeles this week. The NWSL gets the party started first, with their draft beginning Thursday at 12 pm PT at the Diamond Ballroom at the JW Marriott at LA Live. Fans can attend the draft for free, too.

While Los Angeles, or the entire state of California, does not have an NWSL team right now, there have been rumblings for some time that it could happen as soon as 2018, and Los Angeles Football Club may be involved. If that indeed comes to fruition, then getting to see some of the future stars of the league, maybe even some of the future players for an LA team, might be a fun (remember, also free) exercise.

Following Thursday’s NWSL draft, MLS will hold its 2017 SuperDraft on Friday at 12 pm PT. The draft will take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center’s Concourse Hall, and believe it or not, it’s also open to the public for free.

And while LAFC aren’t selecting players this year, it will be fun to see what the atmosphere is like at a draft. These things don’t come along every year...oh wait. Ok, they don’t come along to your town every year.

So if you need something to do on Thursday or Friday afternoon, check out one of the drafts in Los Angeles. Should make for a good time.
