The votes are in, and after a three-man battle, the readers of Angels on Parade have selected forward Jerry van Ewijk as Orange County SC’s Most Valuable Player in 2017.

In his first season in the United States, the 25-year-old van Ewijk was an instant contributor, playing the most minutes among outfield players on the team in USL regular season play, and notching a combined nine goals and three assists across all competitions for OCSC.

Van Ewijk, who previously had played in his native Netherlands, for AGOVV Apeldoorn, De Graafschap and Go Ahead Eagles, garnered 41 percent of the reader vote for Orange County SC, beating out defender Joe Franco (34 percent) and goalkeeper Charlie Lyon (24 percent) for the MVP season honor.

Thanks to everyone who voted in this season’s poll, and of course, congratulations to Jerry on a fine season for Orange County.
