Borussia Dortmund collapse as Schalke rally for draw in unbelievable derby match

A rough season so far got ever rougher on the weekend, as Borussia Dortmund blew a four-goal load (yes, you read that right) to their archrivals Schalke to throw away three points and a much needed derby victory. The first half was all Dortmund, jumping out to a 4-0 lead and looking like the side that had started well during the first part of this season. Then it all came apart. Schalke scored two goals within five minutes, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was sent off for getting a second yellow card, then Schalke scored two late goals to complete the comeback. This could spell the end for new manager Peter Bosz, and almost surely puts to bed any hopes Dortmund had of winning the Bundesliga this year.

Napoli top Udinese 1-0 to return to the top of Serie

Napoli secured a 1-0 win over Udinese to jump back to the top of Serie A. Inter’s win on Saturday saw them briefly at the top of the league, but Napoli reclaimed that spot on Sunday. Jorginho scored the goal for the Naples side, and this is the result Napoli wanted heading in to their big clash with Juventus this week. Napoli are one of the teams seeking to dethrone Juve, and it’s crucial they win as many of the games against lesser sides as they can if they hope to do that.

What’s on the horizon for the USWNT in 2018

There has been so much talk about the future of the USMNT lately, with them missing out on the World Cup, and the search for a new coach, and so forth. This has overshadowed the fact that the USWNT face an interesting time ahead. They don’t have a coaching search to undertake, but there are questions about players and how to play going forward. 2017 lead to new contributors like Rose Lavelle, Casey Short, Lynn Williams, Sofia Huerta and others. Who else that has yet to feature for the USWNT will make an impact? How much does Carli Lloyd play, and what is her best position? Who leads the line, will it be Christen Press, Alex Morgan, Crystal Dunn, or someone else? It will be interesting to see what happens next year for the USWNT.

Paris Saint-Germain beat Monaco 2-1 in Kylian Mbappe’s first game back at his old club

Paris Saint-Germain continued their great season with a 2-1 win over defending Ligue 1 champions Monaco. Kylian Mbappe was not great against his former side, but he was picked up by fellow strikers Neymar and Edinson Cavani, who each scored in the win. Joao Moutinho scored the goal for Monaco, who are in 3rd behind PSG and Lyon. PSG are now in front by nine points in Ligue 1, and show no signs of slowing down.
