Juan Carlos Osorio released his latest Mexican National Team roster on Friday, ahead of two friendlies in Europe, and on-loan Los Angeles Football Club forward Carlos Vela has been called up once again.
The friendlies, against Belgium in Belgium on Nov. 10 and in Poland against Poland on Nov. 13, will likely be pretty good tune-ups, with all three countries bound for the World Cup in Russia next summer.

The call-up came amidst pre-release speculation among the Mexican soccer press that Vela would not actually get called up, leading some to claim he’ll be phased out by the time he reaches MLS next year, jeopardizing his chances of going to the World Cup.
Vela "very important" to JCO, but warns against declining minutes. He'll soon be stopped entirely as he switches to @MLS.

Time will tell on that front, of course. But called up for these friendlies Vela was, and he scored in his last match for El Tri. He’s also looking a bit svelte lately, at least judging from this promo photo of Mexico’s new jersey:
