Orange County SC to host open tryout in January

Do you have what it takes to make the USL team?

Orange County SC announced this week when they will hold their annual open tryout for the upcoming season. The tryout will be January 20 and 21, at the team’s home, Orange County Great Park in Irvine.

The tryout has normally resulted in one or two signings to the USL team. Most recently, it led to the addition of Dusan Stevanovic ahead of the 2016 season, while the team touted the signing of David Park, who did promotional work all season with the team in the community but was never actually announced as a signing by the team and didn’t play in any games this year. But I digress.

If you are interested in actually trying out for OCSC, you can find more information on the team’s website. You have to pay $175 if you register online by Jan. 17, or pay $195 if you show up the day of the tryout without registering first. Those seeking to try out have to be at least 18 years old. Players who impress in the tryout will be invited to a later combine the next week for further evaluation.

Best of luck to those who do try out, and we’ll let you know if anyone makes the cut to join the first team ahead of the 2018 season.
