We already knew that the Rose Bowl would be a venue for the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup, and on Tuesday, we found out they will host one of the semifinal games for the tournament, on July 23.
The other semifinal will take place at the Dallas Cowboys’ stadium in Arlington, Tex., but there will be plenty of Gold Cup soccer if you want to take a California road trip. San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium will host a Group C doubleheader, to include Mexico, on July 9.
The Rose Bowl semifinal, again, will come on July 23, and then the Gold Cup final will be in NorCal, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara on July 26.
So obviously we don’t know which teams will be playing at the Rose Bowl, because the group stage schedule and knockout round match-ups have not been announced yet (that is supposed to come next month). Chances are if Mexico reaches the semis (they’ve done it the last five tournaments), they’ll be playing at the Rose Bowl, but that is not yet confirmed. Stay tuned.
