Orange County SC announced their eighth signing of the 2017 season on Thursday, as they have acquired defender Salomon Wbias on a season-long loan from Liga MX side CF Pachuca, pending USL and federation approval.

The 20-year-old is a left-footed center back. A Mexico native, he has been a Mexican youth international at the U-15, U-17 and U-20 levels, helping El Tri reach the 2013 U-17 World Cup final. At Pachuca, he has featured for the youth league, most recently for the U-20 team at the club.

“We are thrilled to welcome a world class talent like Salomon to our organization and demonstrate our intention to showcase some of the most talented young players from Orange County and around the globe” said Orange County SC general manager Oliver Wyss in a team statement.

Wbias is the first center back announced for the roster this year, and given his age and youth national team experience, one wonders if he will be in consideration for LAFC in the future, should he play well at the USL level. Time will tell.
