Orange County SC played their first preseason game of 2017 on Saturday, defeating Loyola Marymount University 4-1 at LMU. Four of the game’s five goals came in the first 25 minutes or so of the game, with Roy Meeus capping off the win with a second-half penalty conversion for OCSC.
Head coach Logan Pause opted to play a mostly split squad for the game, playing most players 45 minutes each. Most of the players who have been announced as on the roster played in the match, and a club spokesperson told Angels on Parade that a mix of trialists and players close to having their signings announced filled out the group that played on the day.
Leaders for both Orange County SC and MLS affiliate club Los Angeles Football Club were in attendance at the match, no doubt getting a look at the players on the field. And truth be told, while the goals were concentrated at the beginning, Orange County already looked to have some team chemistry throughout the game, with both groups that played, albeit against college opposition.
Orange County’s next preseason game will be Friday night, 7 pm PT, against Cal State Northridge at CSUN. The public is welcome to attend the match.
