It’s just preseason but...is it time to get a little excited about Orange County SC?

The jury will remain out until the USL regular season begins March 25, but Orange County remained perfect on the preseason on Wednesday, after beating fellow USL side Real Monarchs 3-1 at Orange County Great Park.

Amirgy Pineda scored the opening goal for the hosts, with Jerry van Ewijk, the team’s top scorer in preseason, putting the team ahead once again after Real Monarchs tied up the game. Gustavo Villalobos notched the insurance tally for Orange County.

OCSC did pick up a red card near the end of the first half, but as is custom during preseason games the team did not play down a man for the rest of the match.

So Orange County are now 4-0 for the preseason, and have just one tune-up left, Saturday at StubHub Center against local rivals LA Galaxy II at 4 pm. Will they make it 5-for-5 ahead of the regular season? And more importantly, will the good preseason form carry into the games that count? Stay tuned.
