We’ve known for some time that Orange County SC will not be playing at Anteater Stadium in Irvine anymore.
We’ve also heard rumors since at least the 2015 season that Orange County would be moving to a facility at Irvine’s Orange County Great Park to play as soon as it is constructed. While the club has not given any indication this offseason publicly as to where they will play this upcoming season, the odds-on favorite has appeared to be Great Park.
On Wednesday, the club confirmed that rumor. In an email to fans promoting the final opportunity to join their Founding Membership program, Orange County SC included the following perk:
Priority access for selecting your seat at our new home venue (Orange County Great Park)
The company that manages the development of Great Park, Five Point Holdings, announced in October the building of a new stadium, called in the released rendering (see above) the “Championship Soccer Stadium” to be completed this year at the park. The stadium will seat 2,500, with additional grass seating for another 2,500, and dedicated concessions and hospitality spaces.
OCSC will kick off their 2017 USL regular season home slate on May 6 at Orange County Great Park, against local rival LA Galaxy II.
