Champions League semifinals are set
The draw for the Champions League semifinals was done today, and we got two interesting match-ups. The headliner is Real Madrid vs Atletico Madrid. The Madrid Derby has been common lately in the Champions League, as the teams met in both the 2014 and the 2016 Final, and also had a quarterfinal matchup recently. Real Madrid won all of those, and Atleti will be looking to finally get over the hump against their rivals. The other matchup features Monaco and Juventus, and one of the best attacks against the best defense in Europe.
Zlatan injured in Europa League match
Man United won their Europa League match against Anderlecht 2-1 yesterday, but it wasnt all good news, as Zlatan Ibrahimovic left the game with an injury. Marcos Rojo was also hurt, and the club are waiting for tests to be run on both. Initially though, things don’t sound good for either player.
How would San Diego feel about an MLS team?
San Diego is one of the many cities that has put together an ownership group in hopes of getting an MLS team. Cesar Hernandez of Soccer Nation asked some locals how they would feel about San Diego possibly getting an MLS team.
Schweinsteiger proving the doubters wrong
Bastian Schweinsteiger’s transfer to the Chicago Fire was met with a lot of skepticism. People were convinced this a sign that MLS was still just a retirement league for formerly great players. However in the first few weeks Schweinsteiger is flipping the narrative and helping to turn around the Chicago Fire.
