A couple days after one rumored Los Angeles Football Club transfer target went down with a horrible knee injury, a new report emerges about another rumored target.
New York-based journalist Kristian Dyer reported on Saturday that LAFC are continuing to pursue Mexican international Javier “Chicharito” Hernandez, and according to an unnamed source, talks are “progressing” with the superstar.

Source: #LAFC & Chicharito talks progressing. Salary could be $10 million+, most in MLS history. https://t.co/9mvRhhAuaT
Chicharito, 28, has been linked to LAFC for several months now, and has scored 12 goals across all competitions so far this season for Bayer Leverkusen. Prior reports have also claimed he would be the highest-paid player in MLS, albeit at a nearly unbelievable $15 million per year number.
$10 million is certainly a lot by MLS standards — it would be more than 30 percent higher than the highest-paid player to date, Orlando City midfielder Kaka — but it appears to be more realistic than the eye-watering $15 million figure.
Either way, if the report is to be believed (you never know, but the volume of rumors appears to give it some substance) then it appears LAFC is still on track to get a major star for 2018. Stay tuned.
