Orange County SC will attempt to bounce back from a disappointing loss in the second week of the 2017 USL regular season with another challenging road game, this one on the road Saturday evening against Portland Timbers 2.
While Orange County SC are 3-1-0 all-time against T2, they are basically a whole new team this year, and T2 actually have far more continuity on their roster and coaching staff even if they are an MLS2 side. So the history between these teams may not count for much.
That said, this could be a good bounce-back game for Orange County, as Portland have yet to win a game so far this season, despite playing their opponents pretty close in their first three games. Of course, T2 could finally get their act together here and score a win, too, but OCSC get a chance to figure out what went wrong last week in Sacramento and fix those problems in the next game.
It should be an interesting game. We’re still finding out what this Orange County SC team is, with one very strong performance and one not-very-strong performance in the books so far, but Portland are still figuring out what they’re doing this season, too. I expect chances at Providence Park — will Orange County get back on the scoreboard?
Tale of the Tape:
Orange County SC: 3 points (1-1-0), 8th place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: -2 (2/4); Last two games: L-W
Portland Timbers 2: 0 points (0-3-0), 14th place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: -3 (2/5); Last three games: L-L-L
