LAFC makes supporters’ section announcements at Black and Gold Rally

Safe standing, new supporters union among news at event.

On a sunny Saturday in the Arts District of Downtown LA, Los Angeles Football Club made some big announcements regarding the supporters’ sections and Banc of California Stadium.

Inside the Black and Gold Rally, the space was adorned with a ton of street art, representing the club’s logo, all the different supporters’ groups, and something called “The 3252.” Once the program began, the leaders of each supporters’ group announced that “The 3252” is the official name of their combined supporters’ group union, and the number represents the amount of seats that the north end of Banc of California Stadium will have. The individual numbers also add up to 12, which signifies the 11 men on the field, plus one for the fans, encompassing one team. “The 3252” will be the unified name of all the supporters’ groups. This may not be the most applicable comparison, but think of the Timbers Army in Portland, and how it has several different subgroups inside the group, all with different names.

LAFC Lead Managing Partner Larry Berg made the next announcement, and noted that this decision was made in concert with the supporters. Banc of California Stadium with have safe-standing and rail seating in the north end for the supporters’ groups, and will be the first stadium on the west coast to have it. Inspired by stadiums in Europe like Borussia Dortmund and Red Bull Leipzig, the seating area will have a railing in front of each row, and the seat bottom will lock to the back rest when upright.

Up next was team President Tom Penn, who declared, to the roar of the supporters in attendance, that all supporters’ group memberships will be $20 per game. Penn pointed out that the groups and fans are the lifeblood of the club, and this pricing structure shows their gratefulness for the support.

This concluded a great event for the fans, whom the club has repeatedly praised and made an important part of the club’s establishment. Stay tuned for more announcements regarding the stadium and the club in the future.
