Orange County SC will finally make their 2017 home bow as they welcome local rivals LA Galaxy II to their new home, at Orange County Great Park, for the second edition of the 405 Derby (5 pm PT). The teams are both coming off a bye, preceded by the first edition of the rivalry, where they drew 1-1.
It should be an exciting night for Orange County, who have been hyping up their new home and will be looking for a healthy turnout to kick this new era off in style. We’ll see how the temporary venue does and how the atmosphere looks. On the field, how will things go?
Both teams could be a bit rusty coming out of the bye, but all things considered having an extra week to hone team chemistry should do them both good. Seven points in four road games to start the season is a really good start for Orange County, while LA have sputtered a bit more. They have started the season with their youngest squad to date, and the inexperience is showing a bit.
Still, as a rivalry game there is plenty on the line and both teams will have plenty of motivation to get three points. Will OCSC start the Great Park era with a victory? The home fans will be looking for that, but we’ll only know for sure once the game is played.
Tale of the Tape:
Orange County SC: 7 points (2-1-1), 9th place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: -1 (5/6); Last four games: D-W-L-W
LA Galaxy II: 4 points (1-3-1), 12th place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: -3 (5/8); Last five games: D-L-L-L-W
