Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo accused of €14.7 million tax evasion

A Spanish state prosecutor has accused Real Madrid and Portugal star Cristiano Ronaldo of defrauding the Spanish tax office by not paying €14.7 million of taxes. A statement released from the prosecutor on Tuesday says Ronaldo used a company structure in the Virgin Islands, made in 2010, to hide his total income, and accused him of four counts of tax fraud from 2011 to 2014. This is a similar issue to what Lionel Messi was accused for last summer, with the Spanish Supreme Court sentencing him to 21 months in prison, but suspending the sentence as it was Messi’s first offense.

Antoine Griezmann, star of Atletico Madrid and long-time target of Jose Mourinho and Manchester United, has signed a new contract with Atletico Madrid until 2022, which is one year longer than his previous deal and will make him the clubs highest-paid player. He will still have a €100 million release clause. He also apologized to fans after teasing a possible move, when he said there is a 60 percent chance of him going to Man United.

Alvaro Morata's agent says Man United waiting on Real Madrid's decision

Since Manchester United have missed out on Antoine Griezmann, the attention has now shifted to Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata. The striker’s agent has said that the proposed transfer to the Red Devils is pending Real Madrid’s decision. The agent did not say a deal was finished, however, so it appears there is more to be done before Morata can join Manchester United. The striker was previously linked to AC Milan, but their offer was deemed too low.

Claudio Ranieri: Nantes appoint former Leicester manager

Ligue 1 side Nantes has appointed Claudio Ranieri, who won the Premier League with Leicester City in the 2015-16 season, as manager. Ranieri has been in France before, helping Monaco to promotion in 2012-13 and leading them to second behind Paris Saint-Germain the next season. His only top-flight title, after spells with Inter, Parma, Roma, Greece, Napoli, Fiorentina, Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Valencia, and Chelsea, is with Leicester City.
