The local soccer community is abuzz this Friday, following John Sutcliffe’s report late yesterday that Andres Guardado is set to join 2018 MLS expansion side Los Angeles Football Club.
While we noted Sutcliffe’s MLS-related reports tend to be rather inconsistent, a local reporter, the LA Times’ Kevin Baxter, corroborated much of the original report in a tweet on Friday.
So it sounds like there’s definite smoke on this rumor, possibly building to a fire. Remember, Sutcliffe reported all of last summer that Guardado was coming to Atlanta United this year, corroborated in part by Grant Wahl, but that didn’t come to fruition. Obviously, stuff can also get in the way and kill a deal for a variety of reasons, so we say this rumor seems a bit stronger, but let’s wait and see what else comes about before we declare this a lock to happen.
