Orange County SC announced on social media over the weekend the signing of defender Jeannot Esua, who goes by the nickname of Sama. The 20-year-old Cameroonian comes out of the Rainbow FC set-up, an agency/team that has brought over a number of players from Cameroon in recent years, including Montreal Impact defender Ambroise Oyongo and New York Red Bulls duo Hassan Ndam and Anatole Abang, among others.

Esua was quietly added to Orange County’s roster two weeks ago, but has not yet made his USL debut. He did, however, come off the bench for OCSC in their U.S. Open Cup win against LA Wolves FC last week, playing six minutes as Orange County hung on for the 1-0 victory to advance in the tournament.
Beyond that, there’s not much information out there about Esua. He does not appear to have previous professional experience, but given the Rainbow set-up, prior stops can sometimes be obscure.
At any rate, here’s a young player who we’re likely to find out more as the weeks go on and he gets some run in competitive matches.
