Raiola says 'Balotelli will play for Dortmund' - but is he serious?
Super-agent Mino Raiola has said Mario Balotelli, after a season with French club Nice where he scored 17 goals in 28 appearances, will join German club Borussia Dortmund. This report is interesting as this is the first anyone has really heard of Balotelli heading to Dortmund, and Raiola could well have been joking or serious. No one is quite sure what to make of it, but keep an eye out to see where the talented Italian striker lands.
Arsenal ready to offer £120m for Monaco star Kylian Mbappe and make him world's most expensive player
According to reports in France, Arsenal are ready to splash major cash, £120 million, for Monaco star and highly-regarded forward Kylian Mbappe. This would make the youngster the world’s most expensive player, shattering the transfer record set by Manchester United for Paul Pogba last summer (£89m). Mbappe scored 28 goals in 44 appearances, helping Monaco to their first Ligue 1 title in 17 years and leading them to the Champions League semifinals. Add this rumor to the already-official signing of Sead Kolasinac from Schalke, and Arsene Wenger looks to be serious about making some moves this summer.
Pepe angered by Real Madrid treatment as he confirms departure
34-year-old center back Pepe, who with Real Madrid won three La Liga titles, three Champions Leagues and two Copas del Rey since 2007, has confirmed he will leave the club. He thanked fans on his Instagram account and said on a radio show in Spain that the way he was treated by Madrid was not right: they offered him a one-year deal, refusing to offer more than one year to players over the age of 33. This is just one of the things Pepe had an issue with, as he also says Madrid was not in touch with him while recovering from injury, and he cannot explain why he was not in the squad. He is now linked to Paris Saint-Germain and Inter.
Virgil van Dijk: Southampton to report Liverpool over approach
Liverpool has been linked to the 25-year-old center back Virgil van Dijk, and are reportedly ready to pay up, but Southampton are not yet willing to sell. They are, however, ready to report Liverpool for what has been called an “illegal approach,“ as Liverpool have not formally asked Southampton for permission to speak with the player.
This shockingly bad red card from the U-20 World Cup raises VAR questions
Italy beat Zambia in the FIFA U-20 World Cup on Monday, but had to play half the match with 10 men after what can only be described as a shocking red card was given to left back Giuseppe Pezzella. If you check out the video, Pezzella does make minimal contact with the attacker, Edward Chilufya, but does not impede the progress of play, but was given a red after VAR review. Even though the VAR team made a bad move, thankfully Italy was able to win despite the bad call, and will play England in the semifinals.
They just sent Pezzella off for this. That was a video assistance decision. God help us. #FIFAu20WorldCup pic.twitter.com/6blm62lZ7v
