Orange County SC are back on the road and will look to keep their unbeaten run since returning from their long bye intact, as they face Seattle Sounders 2 in an afternoon capper to the weekend’s USL action.
OC are unbeaten in their last three, including a 4-3 win over this same S2 side coming off the bye at home. That game was entertaining, but it did foreshadow a suddenly leaky defense for the SoCal side, as they’ve given up seven goals in three games. Add to that the likelihood that S2 won’t be decimated for this match, like they were last time around, and the test may be considerably tougher for Orange County here.
Adding to the squad depth discussion, Jerry van Ewijk and Amirgy Pineda remain suspended, and the injury statuses of Carlos Alvarez and Duke Lacroix are unknown. The remaining guys will have a chance to step up, but missing several starters is admittedly starting to wear on Orange County’s performances.
But on the bright side, Sounders 2 have kind of been all over the place this season. One week, they’re flying, the next they’re getting blown away. That means this could be another entertaining game, but trying to project which team will come out on top is a much tougher task. The game is early in the afternoon, 2 pm PT, so we’ll find out soon enough.
