In what would be an absolutely shocking move, Neymar has, according to Brazilian sports broadcasting giant Esporte Interactivo, agreed verbally to a deal with Paris Saint-Germain. In the past day or two, rumors emerged that PSG would be willing to pay Neymar’s €222million (£197.3million) release clause, which would shatter the record fee set by Manchester United for Paul Pogba at €105 million (£89.3 million). Reports say that Neymar has been “convinced of the project“ at PSG, while others say that he does not want to be second-fiddle to Lionel Messi and wants to be the main man somewhere. We have to wait to see if this actually has any legs or if it is just a negotiating tactic for a new contract, but even the prospect of Neymar moving out of Barcelona comes as a shock and would surely shake up all of world football.
Michael Zorc, Sporting Director at Borussia Dortmund, told the media after Dortmund’s 3-1 win over AC Milan in the International Champions Cup that star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is no longer on the market. "We consider the transfer window closed for him, because we otherwise would have run out of time [to find replacements],” Zorc told reporters. Reports also say that the only thing that would make Dortmund reconsider is an offer of over €100m. This comes as bad news to clubs such as Chelsea, PSG and AC Milan, who have all been linked to adding the Bundesliga’s leading scorer, and good news to Dortmund fans, who appear to get to hang onto their star striker.
After Alexis Sanchez told the media that he wants to play in the Champions League (which Arsenal will not compete in this year) and that he is “waiting on Arsenal’s decision“ on his future, Arsene Wenger has said the decision has been made, and it is to not sell the star player. Wenger said they can make it back to the Champions League again with Sanchez and that he will not be sold, even if he has an expiring contract after this season.
Bayer Leverkusen star Javier Chicharito Hernandez is reportedly “wanted by several clubs“ (including LAFC!), as there are reports of West Ham’s interest in the striker. The Mirror reported that West Ham want to sign Mexico’s all-time leading scorer, and would pay a release clause of £13m for him, while Leverkusen’s sporting director confirmed that there is a possibility Chicharito could leave.
