Sources close to Manchester United have said this morning that they have agreed to buy Romelu Lukaku from Everton for £75 million. This would be another big signing for the Red Devils, especially because it was long rumored that Lukaku would go to Chelsea. And he still might, as sources close to Everton say no deal has been done, and Chelsea are still in the mix. Did someone at Man United jump the gun thinking Lukaku had signed? Is this a negotiating tactic trying to get Chelsea or another club to submit a larger bid for Lukaku? Who knows, but this is definitely a story to keep an eye on.
In transfer news that is in fact decided, Alexander Lacazette has joined Arsenal from Lyon for a club record 53 Million Euros. Lacazette should be the consistent striker the Gunners have been looking for the last few years. He should work well with creative players like Mesut Ozil and Aaron Ramsey. However the signing makes it more likely that Alexis Sanchez will leave the club. So will signing Lacazette but losing Sanchez make Arsenal a better team? Only time will tell.
Orlando City lost 3-1 at home last night to Toronto FC, and while they had a great start to the season, Orlando have struggled to get consistent results since then. To Kreis that’s not all down to the play of the team though, slamming the referees and saying things like “But its beginning to feel like in this stadium we have referees that will not make critical calls for us for whatever reason.” Kreis seems to imply later that because of the fierceness of Orlando City’s crowd, that referees will make calls the other way, to appear that they are not intimidated by the crowd. Regardless, major sports leagues do not like their coaches criticizing their officials, so expect Kreis to be fined at some point soon.
Did you guys forget David Beckham played for Paris Saint-Germain? No need to be ashamed, i did too. Clearly PSG did not though, as they included Beckham in the new Hall of Fame in the new version of their website. Despite only playing in 12 games for the Paris side, Beckham is there alongside other club legends like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Ronaldinho, George Weah and Jay Jay Okocha. Beckham did play his last competitive match of his career with PSG, so there is that.
