It’s official! Carlos Vela is coming to Los Angeles Football Club.

The player announced the news himself on his Instagram and Twitters accounts on Tuesday afternoon, in the same manner as LAFC unveiled new head coach Bob Bradley just two weeks ago:

My new Club in 2018. @lafc

Vela, 28, notably said LAFC will be his team in 2018, when the MLS expansion team kicks off, confirming the statement earlier in the day from his current team, La Liga side Real Sociedad. No details have been unveiled yet officially, but all signs point to this being a loan at La Real until the winter transfer window, probably near the end of that window, if prior European additions to MLS are anything to go by.

So LAFC have their man — Carlos Vela will be the team’s first Designated Player. It’s a momentous occasion, and we’ll have more coverage of this coming very soon.
