Real Madrid defeats Manchester United 2-1 to win UEFA Super Cup

Real Madrid defeated Manchester United 2-1 to win the UEFA super cup. Casemiro and Isco scored the goals for Madrid, and Romelu Lukaku scored for Man United, but it was too little too late for the Red Devils. Real Madrid haven’t had the greatest preseason so far, but they played well in this game, and should take confidence into their upcoming Spanish super cup games with Barcelona.

Columbus Crew SC sign Pedro Santos to DP deal

Columbus Crew SC signed Portuguese winger Pedro Santos to a Designated Player deal this week. Santos becomes Crew SC’s third DP. Santos came from Braga, and accumulated 18 goals and 16 assists in 76 league games for them. Santos struggled last season with injuries, but Columbus hope that his injury issues are all in the past.

The Premier League has never been known for its parity or underdog stories. Which made it all the more shocking when Leicester City won the league two years ago. Sports notes, that’s probably not changing anytime soon.

Dom Dwyer and Cyle Larin still trying to get on the same page

Dom Dwyer was a big acquisition by Orlando City a few weeks ago. He was thought to be a good foil for Cyle Larin, and a boost that would turn around the Lions after a rough patch. Unfortunately that has yet to be the case, as Orlando has lost and drawn the two games since Dwyer got there. It’s still early, but it will be crucial for those two to get on track if Orlando has any hopes of making the playoffs.
