How to Watch Orange County SC vs. San Antonio FC

Can OC make it two wins in a row?

Orange County SC have an outstanding opportunity on Wednesday, as they host San Antonio FC with a shot of moving back into the playoff spots with a win at Orange County Great Park.

The stakes are really simple for this one: If San Antonio win, they’ll officially clinch a playoff berth. If Orange County win, they’ll leapfrog Colorado Springs Switchbacks in 8th place and move into the final playoff spot, for the moment, themselves. A draw would bring OC level with the Switchbacks on points, but Colorado Springs has a superior goal difference.

So expect two very motivated teams here. Orange County finally got the monkey off their back over the weekend with their first win in five tries in their new, permanent home, and the hope is that they can string some more wins together in the final weeks of the season to clinch a playoff spot themselves. The pressure isn’t on San Antonio as much, by contrast, but they have only lost two games total all season, so this likely won’t be any kind of walk in the park for OC. Can they get over the hump all the way and start a winning streak, and actually get into the Top 8 again?

One more note here: Walker Hume is listed on the roster again, so expect him to start again. The FC Dallas rookie is on a short-term loan, and it seems unlikely he’ll stick around for the rest of the season, but in his first two games with Orange County, they’ve earned four points and let in just one goal, and he’s played some part in that at center back. If this is his last game with OC, here’s hoping it’s another good performance and another good result.

Tale of the Tape:

Orange County SC: 33 points (8-8-9), 10th place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: -3; Last five games: W-D-L-L-D

San Antonio FC: 49 points (13-2-10), 3rd place in Western Conference; Goal Difference: +19; Last five games: D-W-W-D-L
