Draft season is here in American soccer, as the 2018 NWSL College Draft will be held on Thursday morning at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia.

Like in previous years, the sixth annual NWSL Draft will allow the teams to bolster their rosters ahead of the upcoming season. With 10 teams this year, including the location change of FC Kansas City moving to Utah to be taken over by Real Salt Lake as the rebranded Utah Royals FC, the draft will again consist of four rounds of 10 picks.

While there still isn’t an NWSL team in California (maybe 2019?), there are certain to be local natives and college products out of Southern California who will be selected in the draft. We’ll keep an eye on who’s taken with local ties.

Speaking of, you can watch the NWSL Draft for yourself, live, via streaming on Facebook, YouTube and NWSL’s website. However, the draft starts at 7 am PT. Yes, 7:00 in the morning. I know, I know. But the flipside of watching American sports at usually favorable times is that this event is happening at a terrible time for Pacific Time Zone residents.
