Los Angeles Football Club is in the midst of its first week of practice as a club.
On the first day, the club welcomed all players – including No. 1 draft pick Joao Moutinho, No. 3 pick Tristan Blackmon, designated players Carlos Vela and Diego Rossi as well as Benny Feilhaber and Jordan Harvey.
Head coach Bob Bradley told the team his expectation was simple:
“Come every day and show us your personality. Come every day with an open mind to understand the game and understand the things we want to try and do. Enjoy being here,” he said, according to the team’s website.
A brief team meeting was followed by players taking the field.
Following the first day of practice, Bradley said there was a lot of energy on the pitch and players seemed excited to get to work.
“We tried to give a little bit of an idea of how we want to play football and put some things on the field to see how they’d respond,” Bradley said. “I know we want to do something that is special and different. You got to come in everyday excited and ready to do your part.”
Rossi, a touted Uruguayan striker, told reporters he was there to “write the history” of the club, according to Pro Soccer USA. Rossi, along with Vela, are the team’s two designated players.
“I’m excited about the potential of this club,” Vela told Pro Soccer USA. “I think it’s going to be incredible.”
Day two of training camp started with players on the pitch.
