It turns out, real life human soccer players pick up real life injuries, as the first Los Angeles Football Club injury news emerged this weekend.
Omar Gaber announced on his twitter account on Saturday he picked up a groin injury, and expects to be out for three weeks:
الحمد لله على كل حاجة مزق فى العضلة الضامة ... ٣ اسابيع غياب عن الملعب ...دعواتكم
— Omar Gaber (@omargaber) January 27, 2018
Gaber opened training camp last week with LAFC, along with all of the other contracted players as well as other unsigned draft picks and trialists.
Groin injuries are hard to predict sometimes as far as timetable for return, but three weeks in preseason does not sound too bad, on the surface. In theory, he could return in time to get a preseason game or two under his belt before the MLS regular season debuts on March 4 against Seattle Sounders. But these injuries can be tricky so you never know.
Anyway, hopefully Gaber recovers well and quickly, and will be back on the field soon.
