Vote: LAFC Man of the Match vs. Houston

Which player shined brightest in a wet win?

MLS: Houston Dynamo at Los Angeles FC Kelvin Kuo-USA TODAY Sports

Los Angeles Football Club won their second consecutive game on Friday, downing the Houston Dynamo 4-2 in a game that was delayed nearly two hours due to thunderstorms at The Banc. After going down a goal, LAFC scored four straight, with a brace from Carlos Vela, and goals from Adama Diomande and Walker Zimmerman.

With the win, LAFC tie the all-time MLS points record for an expansion team, with 56, and make a push for a top two seed in the Western Conference. Two games to go, but before that, let’s take a look at the nominees for Man of the Match against the Dynamo, as selected by Angels on Parade staff:

  • Adama Diomande: Scored the go-ahead goal for the black-and-gold, his third in two games, to hopefully get hot with the business end of the season nearly here.
  • Carlos Vela: Directly involved in all four goals, scoring two and assisting two, while also picking up the penalty to kick start the rally.
  • Walker Zimmerman: Yes, the defense let in two goals, but Zimmerman chipped in the scoresheet once again, hitting an impressive strike, the winning goal, to score four goals in his last four games.
