LAFC’s Carlos Vela, Danilo Silva named to MLS Team of the Week

Zimmerman, Diomande and Bradley also honored.

Los Angeles Football Club won big on Friday, and that, coupled with just four games played on the weekend in MLS, means there’s plenty of black-and-gold representation on the MLS Team of the Week for Week 33.

Forward Carlos Vela and defender Danilo Silva were named to the Team of the Week XI, following the 4-2 win over Houston Dynamo, while defender Walker Zimmerman and forward Adama Diomande were named to the Team of the Week bench. Bob Bradley was also named Coach of the Week.

Vela posted a monster game, with two goals and two assists, while Zimmerman and Diomande also scored. Silva initiated the play from the back and showed why he’s been an instant contributor since joining in the summer.

LAFC are in second place in the Western Conference, a point behind FC Dallas with both teams left to play two games to finish the season, but Sporting Kansas City, three points behind, have a game in hand and aren’t out of the reckoning for the top two seeds just yet. Will be a fascinating sprint to the finish for the three teams.

Congrats to the quintet for a good performance.
