Orange County SC announced on Thursday that they have signed midfielder Aodhan Quinn to a multi-year contract extension. Specific terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Quinn, 26, is finishing up his first season with Orange County, where he has emerged as a USL MVP candidate, with 11 goals and 14 assists in the USL regular season. The San Diego native returned to Southern California after playing collegiate soccer at Akron, then playing in USL for Orlando City, Louisville City, and FC Cincinnati.

“I’m extremely excited that Aodhan has committed to the future with OCSC and signed a new deal. He has been one of our most consistent players this season and leads by example every day. Aodhan was one of my first signings this past offseason and has exceeded all expectations,” said Orange County SC head coach Braeden Cloutier, whose own contract extension was announced on Wednesday.

In an interview with Angels on Parade last month, Quinn said while he was interested in playing at the highest level possible, he was also attracted by the prospect of settling in Southern California and putting down roots with OCSC.

“I’m starting to realize what I want in a club and what I want in my lifestyle, and I think I have a lot of that here in Orange County,” he said. “It’s been really good, and I think that’s why I’ve produced so well this year. I’ll think more about that at the end of the year and if something comes up, maybe I take a chance and look at it, but if not, then it’s about winning championships and being happy being in a place you want to be at.”

“I am excited and honored to have re-signed with such a great club. We are in the process of building a winning culture and I’m glad to be able to continue helping Orange County SC in any way I can for years to come,” Quinn said on his re-signing on Thursday.

“We are delighted to secure Aodhan for years to come, as he is a winner and fierce competitor who fits perfectly within our Orange County SC culture. He is having an MVP worthy season and setting the standard for our club as we drive towards our first USL Cup,” said Orange County general manager & executive vice president Oliver Wyss.

Orange County kick off their USL Cup Playoffs quest on Saturday, when they host Saint Louis FC at Orange County Great Park in Irvine. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 pm PT.
