Orange County SC continue to roll atop the USL Western Conference, and following their latest win, a 2-1 home triumph over Seattle Sounders 2 on Saturday, OCSC defender Jos Hooiveld was named to the USL Team of the Week for Week 30 of the 2018 regular season.
Hooiveld wasn’t in the goals against Seattle, and a golazo from Azriel Gonzalez killed a clean sheet, but USL cited the center back’s next-level stats in honoring him: “Hooiveld won 14 of 16 duels overall and completed 55 of 68 passes.”
The Dutch veteran, 35, joined Orange County midseason and slotted in nearly instantly. As part of OC’s four-man center back rotation, Hooiveld, the veteran of the quartet, has played 14 games in league play to date and with the team in first place, the results speak for themselves. It’s been a savvy pickup by Orange County, who look like they’re making a real push to win USL Cup this year.
Congrats to Jos on the honor, and here’s hoping the wins and honors continue to roll in for Orange County SC.
