FC Cincinnati conducted their Expansion Draft on Tuesday, and after making their full five selections, no Los Angeles Football Club players were selected by the MLS expansion team.
Cincinnati selected Darren Mattocks (D.C. United), Kei Kamara (Vancouver Whitecaps), Roland Lamah (FC Dallas), Eric Alexander (Houston Dynamo), and Hassan Ndam (New York Red Bulls). Kamara was immediately flipped to the Colorado Rapids, the full terms do not appear to have dropped yet on that deal.
So no worries about Steven Beitashour, Josh Perez or Tristan Blackmon, or any of LAFC’s out of contract players being taken. LAFC went through this last year, but it appears they did well in who they protected and left unprotected, as Cincinnati didn’t bite on any available players.
Of course, even with this happening, don’t be surprised if trades are on the horizon involving LAFC, with any MLS team. There have been whispers about at least one deal — with the trade window back open, we’ll see what happens. And of course, we’ll keep you posted.
