Orange County SC announced on Friday two signings for the 2018 USL season, as they bring back midfielder Amirgy Pineda and sign defender Joe Amico.
Pineda, 21, returns to the club for his second season. In his rookie campaign, the Santa Ana native made 17 appearances across all competitions, notching two assists as he played deep in central midfield. His season was interrupted partway through the campaign, as a red card offense during a game against Portland Timbers 2 spiraled into an on-field scuffle and a hefty six-game suspension. But with a year of pro soccer under his belt, Pineda will look to become a consistent option for Orange County in 2018.
Amico joins OCSC for the first time, coming over after a rookie professional season in 2017 with Swope Park Rangers. The defender played collegiately at UCF and Jacksonville University, and played PDL soccer at well-known side Des Moines Menace. Prior to college, the Indianapolis native was a Sporting Kansas City academy player.
Orange County SC now have 10 announced players for the 2018 season, which begins March 17 at home against Phoenix Rising FC.
