Los Angeles Football Club played their third friendly of the preseason on Sunday, and it was their third draw, as they tied the visiting Vancouver Whitecaps FC 4-4 in a ding-dong affair at UCLA.

Carlos Vela led the way for the hosts with a brace, while Vancouver’s goals came courtesy of Anthony Blondell and Yordy Reyna, who each scored a pair.

Vela opened the scoring three minutes in, with a free kick that beat the Whitecaps goalkeeper:

Vancouver answered in short order, with Blondell scoring two before halftime and Reyna notching his first before the break to put the ‘Caps up 3-1.

Latif Blessing started the second half on a good note, scoring immediately after the restart to bring LAFC to within a goal, but Reyna scored his second in the 52nd minute to make it 4-2.

Credit to LAFC for persisting, as Vela scored his second from the penalty spot in the 78th minute after Diego Rossi drew the PK. Then LAFC got a stroke of luck, as a cross by Benny Feilhaber went in off Whitecaps defender Jake Nerwinski in the 84th minute to make it 4-4.

LAFC lineup:

Tyler Miller (GK); Joao Moutinho (Jordan Harvey 63’), Dejan Jakovic, Walker Zimmerman (Tristan Blackmon 66’), Steven Beitashour; Mark-Anthony Kaye (Nico Czornomaz 70’), Benny Feilhaber, Latif Blessing; Diego Rossi, Carlos Vela, Marco Urena
