The U.S. U-17 Women’s National Team is gearing up for the upcoming CONCACAF U-17 Championship, and a new camp has been called to tune up. USWNT U-17 coach Mark Carr has called in 22 players for a trip to Argentina, and the selections include LAFC Slammers defender Kate Wiesner.
The U-17s will begin the training camp on Feb. 7, to run to Feb. 19, and will play in the Copa Provincia de Buenos Aires tournament while there, facing Chile, Uruguay and Argentina’s U-17 teams in Mar del Playa.
Wiesner is the veteran of the group, having received the most caps at U-17 of the group, with 25. She also played in the previous World Cup cycle for the U-17s. She has committed to Penn State for 2019 and is one of the pioneering members of the LAFC Slammers Girls Development Academy program, in its first season.
The CONCACAF U-17 Championship will be held in late-April and is the qualifying tournament for the U-17 World Cup, which will take place in Uruguay in November.
Congrats to Kate on the latest call-up, and good luck in Argentina.
