Vote: LAFC Man of the Match vs. Real Salt Lake

A lot of competition for the honor this week.

MLS: Los Angeles FC at Real Salt Lake Russ Isabella-USA TODAY Sports

Los Angeles Football Club won their second match in a row on Saturday, blowing away Real Salt Lake 5-1 on the road. It was an impressive result, even if a big moment of the game (cough, Latif Blessing’s goal being upheld, cough) was a huge favor for LAFC.

Regardless, we want to inaugurate a new tradition for LAFC games, starting this week, in voting for a Man of the Match. And we obviously want you to be a part of it.

We’ll give you a handful of nominees, and it’s up to you to pick the winner. The candidates for the first go-round:

Laurent Ciman: The center back served as captain once more, and made a number of big defensive plays, including 12 recoveries, four clearances in the box, two blocks, three interceptions, and a tackle inside the box, all while preventing RSL from scoring from the run of play.

Benny Feilhaber: The midfielder got in on the attacking end in this game, scoring a goal and setting up a second one, while helping to prevent RSL from getting into a rhythm in the middle of the field.

Tyler Miller: Saved a penalty (and was unfortunate not to keep the subsequent rebound out) and made five saves to keep the road team in firm control of the game.

Diego Rossi: Had a monster game, with two goals and three assists. That kind of production is pretty incredible.

Carlos Vela: The star man for LAFC had a goal and an assist to open up his MLS account, and looked dangerous throughout.
