Mexico coach Juan Carlos Osorio named his roster for friendlies this month against Iceland and Croatia, and unsurprisingly, Los Angeles Football Club forward Carlos Vela was included in the 28-man roster.
El Tri will face Iceland at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara on March 23, followed by a friendly against Croatia on March 27 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Tex. Both Mexico and its opponents in these friendlies are going to the World Cup in Russia this summer.

Vela, who has been a regular under Osorio, will be looking to stay healthy and in good form ahead of the World Cup itself. For LAFC fans, he’s not going to miss any MLS games (assuming he remains healthy, of course), as the MLS expansion team is on a bye until March 31.
Vela is the third LAFC player called up so far in this international break, joining Canadian teammates Dejan Jakovic and Mark-Anthony Kaye.
