Orange County SC announced on Thursday they have signed defender Walker Hume for the 2018 season. Hume returns to the team after spending the final months of the 2017 season on loan at the USL outfit from FC Dallas.
Hume, 24, made nine appearances for OC last year. The central defender, a rookie out of the University of North Carolina, was drafted in he second round by FC Dallas, and made two MLS appearances for them before his loan to OC. Hume filled a major hole for Orange County upon his arrival, making an immediate difference in central defense and demonstrating he could play well at USL level.
“I’m very happy to have Walker back with us and am looking forward to having him with us for a full season. He made a big impact for us at the end of last season in the short period of time he was with us on loan from FC Dallas,” said Orange County SC head coach Braeden Cloutier in a statement. “He’s very comfortable on the ball and reads the game really well. He’s a great teammate who fits perfectly with how we want to play.”
Hume and Orange County SC will make their 2018 USL regular season debut on Saturday at home against Phoenix Rising FC.
