Orange County SC announced another MLS loan signing on Thursday, bringing in winger Mark Segbers on loan from the New England Revolution. The loan is for the 2018 season, but the Revs have the right to recall Segbers at any point.
Segbers, 21, begins his professional career after signing his first contract this offseason. Selected 9th overall by New England in the 2018 MLS Draft, the St. Louis-area native played collegiate soccer at Wisconsin. In his senior year, he was named to the All-Big Ten second team.
“We have tracked Mark for some time after impressing the technical staff at the 2018 MLS Combine,” said Orange County SC assistant GM and SVP of player recruitment & soccer operations Peter Nugent in a team statement. “He is a dynamic player, whose direct running and pace will cause opposing teams problems this year.”
Segbers joins the likes of Alex Crognale and Andre Rawls as on loan from MLS teams to Orange County to start the USL season.
OC open the 2018 USL season on Saturday at home against Phoenix Rising FC.
