Los Angeles Football Club have added to their attack with the acquisition of Shaft Brewer, Jr. in a trade with FC Dallas.

LAFC sends a fourth-round draft pick in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft, as well as $50,000 in general allocation money should the player meet agreed upon playing conditions, to Dallas for Brewer.

Brewer, a native of Sacramento, most recently played for the RB Leipzig U-19 academy team in Germany. He played three games with Leipzig, scoring a goal in a win against Osnabruck in November.

“Shaft is a young and exciting player who already has gained international experience,” said LAFC head coach Bob Bradley, in a statement on the team’s website. “We look forward to working with him to further his development with LAFC.”

Brewer has international experience playing with the U.S. Youth National Team. He played for the U-18 squad in 2016 and has attended a pair of U-20 training camps. He helped the United States to a first-place finish at the 2016 Vaclav Jezek Tournament in the Czech Republic.

His first pro experience came as an academy player for Sacramento Republic FC. In his first season with the U15/16 team, Brewer led with 12 goals. He signed with FC Dallas’ youth system the following year before signing with Leipzig.

Brewer becomes the 23rd player on the LAFC roster.
